Such clean drifting is just not possible on the Wii controller. Neat trick, I'll have to try that sometime on my friend's game.

It is possible but it is VERY hard to do it continually like a GC controller. If you must play with the Wii Controller, plug in a Nunchuk and use the joystick to steer. Works very well.
